One of the most revered singer-songwriters of his generation records pared down versions of 12 songs from his outstanding catalogue. Includes the first ever re-recording of his 1971 classic single ‘Alone Again (Naturally)’ and a new song written specifically for the album, ‘A Kiss Is A Kiss’. The idea for Songbook arose after O’Sullivan’s 2022 Barbican show (where The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess duetted with him on ‘Nothing Rhymed’). BMG came up with the idea and suggested O’Sullivan record it in such a way to capture the instrumentation and interplay between him and guitarist Bill Shanley.
