“Wordlayer” was my Twitter username made up when I began sharing about my son Ryan’s accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury on June 19, 2001. My world stopped as I knew it, and a new world began with my son, now a TBI survivor. Our family was thrown into the world of TBI, and our lives were forever divided into two halves – before and after.
I kept a journal through the first year and a half that even became a book, Heaven Hears, by Tyndale House Publishers.
And that’s the message in "Wordlayer" - after loss there is rebirth, reinvention, new life, new beauty. Whatever you struggle with, I hope you hear the message that our words are creative, you are a creator, too, and we aren’t powerless.
In 2003, the Boone family established non-profit Ryan’s Reach in Ryan’s name to help survivors of brain injury and their families.
